This course serves as the essential foundation for anyone new to the AR-15. Our veteran instructors provide a disciplined, methodical approach to the curriculum, ensuring students build a correct and unshakeable understanding of the weapon system. The program consists of integrated classroom instruction and live-fire application on the range, providing a complete introductory experience.

Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the AR-15 platform, including:

  • Platform-Specific Safety: Detailed safety protocols for handling, operating, and storing the AR-15 rifle.

  • AR-15 Nomenclature: A complete breakdown of the rifle's components, including the upper receiver, lower receiver, bolt carrier group, and fire control group.

  • Cycle of Operations: A technical understanding of how the rifle functions internally from the moment a round is fired until it is ready to fire the next.

  • Weapon Handling and Operation: Professional techniques for charging, loading, unloading, and performing status checks.

  • Fundamentals of Rifle Marksmanship: The core principles of marksmanship applied specifically to the AR-15, including stance, grip, sight picture/sight alignment (with iron sights and red dots), trigger control, and follow-through.

  • Sighting Systems and Zeroing: A practical, hands-on session on how to properly zero iron sights and/or a red dot optic to the rifle.

  • Basic Maintenance: Proper field stripping, inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and reassembly of the AR-15.

This course is specifically designed for:

  • First-time AR-15 owners.

Course Details:

  • Duration: 5 Hours (Approximately 2 hours classroom, 3 hours range time)

  • Location: Classroom instruction at our Greenville, WI facility, followed by live-fire exercises at a designated partner range.

  • Student Required Equipment:

    • A functional AR-15 platform rifle in a safe, operational condition.

    • 100-150 rounds of new, factory-loaded ammunition.

    • A minimum of three (3) magazines.

    • A quality rifle sling (two-point sling is highly recommended).

    • Safety-rated eye and ear protection (electronic ear protection is recommended).

    • Appropriate range attire suitable for the weather.

  • Prerequisites: None. This is an entry-level rifle course.
