The Handgun Fundamentals and Safety course is designed to build a solid foundation of knowledge, skill, and confidence in a controlled, professional environment. Moving beyond simple theory, this program combines essential classroom instruction with practical, live-fire application on the range.
Under the direct supervision of Battle Brothers Tactical’s veteran instructors, students will learn the core principles of firearm safety, the mechanics of their handgun, and the fundamental techniques of marksmanship. Our systematic approach ensures that you will develop correct habits from the very beginning, setting the groundwork for all future training.
This is the essential first step before considering concealed carry or advanced defensive training.

Universal Firearm Safety: Comprehensive instruction on the Four Universal Safety Rules and their practical application in all environments.
Firearm Nomenclature: A detailed understanding of the parts and function of semi-automatic pistols and revolvers.
Ammunition Knowledge: Identification of ammunition components and selection of the correct ammunition for your firearm.
The 7 Fundamentals of Marksmanship: In-depth coaching on the essential skills for accurate shooting:

Weapon Handling Procedures: Learn to safely and efficiently load, unload, and perform a status check (press check) on your firearm.

Live-Fire Application: A structured, instructor-led session on the shooting range to apply all learned fundamentals under direct supervision.

Course Details:
Duration: 4 Hours (Approximately 2 hours classroom, 2 hours range time)
Location: Classroom instruction and Range time is at New London Fish and Game club in New London, WI facility,
Student Required Equipment:
A functional handgun (semi-automatic or revolver).
50-100 rounds of new, factory-loaded ammunition.
A minimum of two magazines (for semi-automatics).
Safety-rated eye and ear protection.
Appropriate range attire (closed-toe shoes, high-collared shirt).
Prerequisites: None. This is an entry-level course.
